Amid concerns over the alarming rate of terrorism and criminalities in the country, a prominent Islamic scholar, Sheik Gumi has levelled serious allegations against the Nigerian Army.
During an interview on Arise TV, Gumi alleged that the Nigerian Army does not want terrorism to end because they benefit from it.
Gumi opined that some top military officials want insecurity to continue because of the huge funds allocated for tackling it.
On his dialogue with bandits on the need to embrace peace, the Islamic scholar said the Nigerian Army is not encouraging matters.

He further revealed that the bandits were ready to drop their arms and embrace peace if the government could provide schools, hospitals and water for them.
However, he lauded the efforts made by the police and the Inspector-general of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu, to assist his crew in meeting the bandits.
Reacting to allegations levelled against the military, Spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Brig-Gen Mohammed Yerima described Gumi’s position as unfortunate.
Also, he challenged the Sheik to come up with evidence to back up his claim.
