…Urges Senate, Reps to Dismiss Request
SERAP Nigeria has kicked against the country, seeking another set of loans ranging from four billion dollars to seven hundred and ten million euros.
SERAP, which stands for the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, further requested that the Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives unanimously reject President Muhammadu Buhari’s new loans appeal.
The group’s message was directed to the President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan and his counterpart, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The advocators made the call on September 18 through an open letter signatory to the Deputy Director, SERAP, Kolawole Oluwadare.
The letter contains views and opinions of the group who spelt out some terms and conditions detailing exact and scanty requirements expected to be met by President Buhari.
SERAP Nigeria Calls for Transparency, Accountability
Before the Loan is considered, the group declared that the Reps and Senate must ensure the publication of details of spending of all loans obtained since May 29, 2015, by the government is publicized.
The organization expressed concerns about the growing debt crisis, the lack of transparency and accountability in the spending of loans obtained.
