Amid rumours linking President Muhammadu Buhari to a third term Presidency, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has disclosed his stands regarding the rumoured planned elongation of tenure.
Lawan, who assured Nigerians he will always uphold the constitution, vowed not to support any rumoured third-term agenda for President Buhari.
Many had accused Lawan of been a supporter of the unsubstantiated third-term plan, and he is often viewed as a rubber stamp of President Buhari.
The Senate President also denied making any statement about the third term for Buhari before or after the 2019 elections.

Lawan noted that an old tweet linking him to supporting a third term agenda for President Buhari is the handiwork of mischief makers and purveyors of fake news.
He recalled that he was part of lawmakers who rejected a previous attempt to elongate the tenure of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Meanwhile, the Presidency has denied that Buhari is planning a third term on his second term expiration in 2023.
