Media personality Rufai Oseni, popularly known as Ruffyfire, has expressed his skepticism about the likelihood of justice being served in the ongoing Nigerian prison saga. In a tweet, Oseni referred to journalist Fisayo Soyombo’s previous investigative revelations about the state of Nigerian prisons, which, according to him, went unanswered. He noted that despite multiple petitions submitted to the authorities over time, no meaningful action has been taken to address the issues.
Oseni fears that the current scandal might merely end up generating social media buzz and lead to defamation suits without resolving the core problems. “Vested interest is the problem of Nigeria,” Oseni remarked, highlighting the challenges of tackling societal ills within the country.
This comes amid rising public concern about prison conditions in Nigeria, with calls for reform being met with little to no substantial action from relevant authorities. Oseni’s comments have struck a chord with many, who share his concern that the focus might shift to personal battles rather than addressing the institutional failures.
As more voices join the conversation, the question remains: will the prison saga lead to real change, or will it be just another case of deflected justice?
