Governor of Ondo State, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, is being inaugurated for his second term in office today. Interestingly, the government of the state proceeded to declare today, Wednesday, February 24th, 2021, a public holiday.
This was announced yesterday in a statement by the state Head of Service, Mr Dare Aragbaye.
Rotimi Akeredolu Sworn In For Second Term
Akeredolu has been sworn in alongside his running mate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who is taking the oath of office for the first time as Deputy Governor.
Present at the inauguration ceremony are governors and other dignitaries, including the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and four other governors.

Akeredolu, speaking yesterday at a public lecture, as part of the activities marking his inauguration, opined that sectional agitations had displaced “national patriotism”, adding that the unitary structure may continue to provoke sectionalism.
He pointed out that most Nigerians were losing faith in “unity in diversity” sloganeering, urging stakeholders to renew their fidelity to true federalism as the key to national consciousness restoration.
