Following the news of his death, many fans of famous Nigerian Reggae legend, Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek, have taken to their different social media platforms to express their feelings about his demise.
Everyevery.ng had earlier reported that his manager, Omenka Uzoma confirmed that Fashek died on the 1st of June, 2020 in the United States, after battling an unknown illness.
Before his death, it was revealed that Fashek was bankrupt and battled drug addiction in 2015, aside from his struggle with drug addiction, he was hospitalized on several occasions owing to his health conditions.
He was rumoured dead in September 2019 but his manager, Uzoma described the news as untrue.
Meanwhile, Twitter users created a hashtag in his honour on Tuesday, June 2 to talk about his personality and music while he was alive.
Many of his fans including famous Nigerian politicians, celebrities in Nigeria and around the world have poured encomium on late Fashek, whom they described as a legend.

Some people described his death as remarkable given the downpour that marked his demise.
The Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo described late Majek as an extraordinarily gifted musician.
“R.I.P my big brother, Mr Majekodunmi Fasheke (aka Majek Fashek), the ‘Rain Maker’ and extraordinarily gifted musician. They don’t make them like you anymore. Your remake of the song Hotel California remains one of my favourites and, of course, the evergreen, Send Down the Rain!
Famous Nigerian indigenous rapper, Olamide Adedeji took to his Instagram handle to mourn Fashek, whom he described as a legend.
Also, in a post on his verified Twitter handle, former Senator who represented Kaduna central during the 8th National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani described late Fashek as an unforgettable legend.
“Some years ago I met Majek Fashek near a train station in New York b4 he returned to Nigeria.
He was a shadow of d man many of us loved decades ago. Majek rode thru a rough & dangerous terrain in Life. He tried to pick up & now is gone. He was an unforgettable, legend.RIP.”

One of his hit songs is Send down the rain in the Album titled, Rainmaker which he released in the year 1997.
On June 16th 1992, the reggae legend performed the hit single, ‘So Long’ at the ‘Late Night with David Letterman’ show and he was the first African Artist to be signed to Interscope Records in 1990 ($20 million deal).
