Popular Reggae Singer, songwriter, and actor Majek Fashek have passed on. He was aged 57. He died on Monday the 1st of June in a New York hospital. The Rain Maker’s death was confirmed by his manager on his official Instagram account.

In his words, the legend has gone to be with the Lord his Maker. He asked everyone to celebrate his achievements as the family is yet to release any official information regarding the funeral.
The 57-year-old legend was born in Benin City Edo state into an Ijesha family. At the early stages of his career, his stage name was Rajesh Kanal. He was part of the Jastix group with two other people, McRoy Gregg and Drummer Black Rice. They used to have a show on NTA Benin and went on a lot of tours with another reggae group called the Mandators.

Majek Fashek picked up the name Fashek after his first band ended and he signed with Tabansi Records in 1988. This was when he began his solo career and released his album Prisoner of Conscience. His song Send Down the Rain from the same album became the most popular song in Nigeria at that time.
Majek Fashek was married to Rita Fashek and they had four children together before their divorce. He battled depression, substance addiction and was declared bankrupt in 2015.
