Following the announcement of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the newly elected president of Nigeria, many have turned to the street to protest. The Nigerian army surprisingly urged the civilians to go ahead and protest. One of the states where the citizens are protesting is Rivers State and the Nigerian Army has encouraged them to go ahead and protest.
Why Nigerians Army Allowed Nigerians to Protest
They were a protest in Jos Plateau state and also in Ekiti. They were also a protest in Kogi state where women came out saying Bola Ahmed Tinubu can not be the president of Nigeria. In Jos Plateau, many civilians there took to the street and burnt some government properties singing the same song as Tinubu can not be the president.
All of the agitations from the masses can be traced to the poorly managed presidential election that was held. The INEC chairman Mr Yakubu Mamood promised to use the BVAS but on that day they failed to use it and they were issues of manipulation of results as opposed by the masses. All of these and more are the reasons people are protesting.
