The English Premier League plans to resume the league will step up this week through the creation of what is called “Project Restart”. Both Arsenal and Brighton have all opened their training grounds to players for individual workouts training as at yesterday Monday.
The league is very hopeful to resume on the 8th of June and to finish at the end of July to fit in with Uefa’s European competition plans. With Project Restart season, full training would be required at least on the 18th of May which is just less than a month away.
Top-flight clubs will meet on Friday to discuss on the project restart options for the resumption of the league. The Premier League has been on suspension since 13th of March because of the coronavirus pandemic. The English Premier League has a total of 92 remaining games.
All games are expected to be held behind closed doors and the league is considering making some available free-to-air. One of the issues to discuss about will be which of the stadiums will be used and whether that will be a limited number of grounds or neutral venues this will be known when they meet on Friday this week.
However, a return to action still depends on the government’s five tests being met, especially an increase in testing, and meeting social distancing guidelines. It also hinges on the conclusions reached by regular cross-sport meetings of senior medical officials discussing the health protocols for competing behind closed doors, which are set to start this week.
This project restart is a huge move to resuming the as league after a consistent push and move to resume the league before, they met about two weeks back to resume the league. This move now will help enhance the preparation in resuming the league in no time.
