President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration’s recent tough policy decisions are aimed at improving living conditions across the country.
In a speech delivered by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Lagos, President Tinubu reiterated the government’s dedication to upholding the rule of law, respecting the separation of powers, and accommodating diverse opinions within the legal system. He stressed that these difficult decisions were essential for driving transformative change and expressed confidence that they would soon benefit the population.
President Tinubu commended the NBA for its enduring role in supporting democratic principles and aligning with his administration’s goals. He acknowledged the challenging path his government has taken to address long-standing issues and inefficiencies.
“Let me assure you that our administration will steadfastly support the rule of law, maintain the principles of separation of powers, and respect dissent within legal limits,” Tinubu stated. He urged against a defeatist mindset, encouraging a collective effort towards building a better future for the nation.
Highlighting the necessity of moving away from past trajectories for sustainable development, he noted, “To achieve lasting progress, we must address entrenched problems and rebuild our nation.”
He acknowledged that while changing the status quo involves difficult choices and challenging outcomes, he remains confident that these measures will eventually bring relief and positive results.
