A Nigerian police officer has been dismissed in Adamawa State after he had allegedly killed a young man over unpaid bribe.
The police officer, Corporal Richard Japheth is said to have shot a tricyclist, Arabo Dauda, 20 on the 1st June 2020 in Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State, killing him in the process.
Corporal Richard allegedly shot Mr Arabo at a police checkpoint when he declined to give the N100 bribe that is usually paid by people passing the checkpoint with petrol in their possession. He was then arrested by the police and taken to the criminal investigation department in Adamawa State where investigation on the case started.
The Police Command in Adamawa state said on Monday that they had concluded their investigations and found the police officer to be guilty, and as such had been dismissed from the Nigerian Police Force. He is now in detention and awaiting the court decision following the charge placed on him for homicide.
