A 32-Year-Old man in Anambra State has been arrested for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl by the police in the state.
The police in Anambra state confirmed this through a spokesman of the Anambra State Police Command. The spokesman, SP Haruna Mohammed who confirmed this to newsmen said that the crime which was carried out on Sunday afternoon had already been confessed to voluntarily by the accused.
According to reports, the 32-year-old named Chigbo Akpoluobi had lured the 7-year-old child to his room, raped her and had also given her several injuries.
The police spokesman, SP Haruna said the police operatives attached to the Okpoko division had arrested a 32-year-old man who is from Asa village in Ohaji Egbema LGA of Imo State with the name Chigbo Akpoluob after they had been tipped off on where he resides at Ubodukwu road in Nkitaku, Okpoko at about 12:30 pm on Tuesday 16th June.
The spokesman also said, “The suspect allegedly lured a seven-year-old girl to his rented apartment on the Sunday 14th June 2020 and defiled her. The scene was visited by police detectives and the victim was taken to the hospital for medical examination.”
The suspect has however confessed to the crime according to the police spokesman who also said the commissioner of police in the state, CP John B. Abang directed the criminal investigation department in Awka, Anambra State to carry out a discreet investigation before the suspect is charged to court for prosecution.
