Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has had it’s first meeting on Monday 30, 2022, after the just concluded primary election that secured Atiku Abubakar, aormer Vice President, the position of the official Presidential Flag Bearer.
A breaking news just revealed that the newly elected presidential candidate met with Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State, and other party faithfuls to reconcile the differences between Atiku and Wike.
It would be noted that Atiku now holds the candidacy ticket and will be taking the party to the 2023 Presidential Elections against candidates of other political parties yet to hold their party conventions.
And with the primaries of the opposition concluded, Nigerians will be expecting that of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC whose party convention was initially postponed due to some formalities.
Meanwhile, it would be noted that the former Vice President defeated the likes of Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, at the party’s presidential primary in Abuja on Saturday night.
However, it was learnt that the meeting on Monday by the opposition party was meant to reconcile the two party chieftains and give the party a robust outing in the 2023 presidential election against the ruling APC.
The meeting was also attended by former Ekiti State Governor and PDP presidential aspirant, Ayodele Fayose, amongst other PDP chieftains.
PDP Primaries: Atiku Scores 371 Votes to Defeat Wike
At the primaries, the new PDP flag bearer polled 371 votes to defeat Wike, who got 237 votes; a former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, 70 votes; the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Emmanuel Udom, 38 votes; the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, 20 votes; a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, 14 votes and an ex-President of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Sam Ohuabunwa, one vote.
