Founder and Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi has advised the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu on how to go about the distribution of palliative materials in the state.
The Cleric urged Sanwo-Olu to direct palliative materials to rural and suburban communities in the city.
Adeyemi said this while reacting to the extension of lockdown in the state by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Pastor Sam Adeyemi Advises Sanwo-Olu
He said, “We must direct food/cash to the under-resourced areas of Lagos and other parts of Nigeria in an efficient way.
“That is why we create governments for ourselves.
“The instinct for survival is the strongest in man.
“Being a good citizen may not be a priority to the very hungry.”
Sanwo-Olu had announced the second batch of distribution of relief materials in the state. Still, it has been greeted with condemnation as many residents complained of not getting the items distributed.
Residents also said that the distribution had been politicised as political office holders in charge of the exercise-only shared the materials to their cronies.
The Governor had earlier reiterated his administration’s commitment to cushioning the effect of lockdown in the state.
He made this known in a post on his verified Twitter handle
The tweet reads “We will continue to do our best as Government to cushion the effect of this lockdown by reenergizing our welfare package. Please keep faith with us as we work to win this battle together. Thank you for your continued perseverance and patience.
