Lazarus Muoka, the founder of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, has responded to social media critic VeryDarkMan’s disparaging remarks about his church, suggesting that the critic is now facing consequences for his words.
VeryDarkMan recently appeared before a joint committee of the House of Representatives investigating a leaked audio clip in which popular social media figure Bobrisky purportedly claimed to have bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million to dismiss money laundering charges against him. The audio included Bobrisky asserting that he had not spent six months in prison, further fueling the controversy.
In light of this revelation, the House of Representatives convened an investigative hearing, with VeryDarkMan summoned to provide testimony alongside representatives from the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
In a video that has since gone viral, Pastor Muoka addressed the situation, stating, “Somebody came to tell me that one man called VeryDarkMan said Chosen people will learn something the hard way. And I said no, Chosen will not learn something the hard way, he is the one that will learn the hard way. What is happening today? He is the one learning something the hard way.”
This incident marks a significant moment in the ongoing dialogue between the church and its critics, particularly as VeryDarkMan has been vocal against the phrase “I am chosen,” a mantra popularized by members of Muoka’s congregation following a series of controversial testimonies.
As the investigation continues, both the church and VeryDarkMan are under public scrutiny, raising questions about the intersection of faith, social media influence, and accountability in Nigeria.
