Palace Debunks Claims of Oluwo of Iwo Asking for N20m

Palace of the Oluwo of Iwo has swiftly discarded reports claiming that the Oluwo of Iwoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Abdul-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, wrote a letter to the Government of Osun State, asking for twenty million naira (N20m) financial assistance to fund his proposed wedding to a Princess from Ado Bayero Dynasty in Kano State.

They headlined the letter, “Notification of Wedding and Request for Financial Support,” claimed it’s from the Oluwo of Iwo and handed it to office of the OsunState Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola on February 8th.

Part of the contents of the fake letter stated that the palace requested for the hands of a Princess in a majestic royal wedding which would be conducted with the presence of the state government and thereby would require major financial expences.

Some paragraphs of the forged letter reads as follows, “Moreover, the estimated amount for the event is above (N20,000,000:00) twenty million Naira. His Excellency, Oba Akanbi relies on you for necessary consideration and approval on this request.”

Oluwo of Iwo Reacts

Responding to this allegation, the monarch, through his spokesperson, Alli Ibrahim, denied writing the state governor for financial support for the proposed wedding.

The Palace said, “We read with total dismay, a letter purportedly said to emanate from the palace of Oluwo of Iwoland seeking financial assistance on his personal affairs, wedding, we want to categorically state that the letter is fake and did not emanate from the palace of Oluwo.
