Ninety-Five-year-old Elder statesman Pa Reuben Fasoranti has stepped down as the National leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political association, Afenifere.
Fasoranti, who became Afenifere leader in 2008 had during the group’s monthly meeting in Akure, cited old age as the primary reason for his decision to step down from the position.
The Elder statesman, who has been an advocate for the Yoruba interest, has reportedly named the group’s deputy leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, as the acting national leader.

Everyevery.ng gathered that the Alaago of Kajola Ago, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, was named the group’s deputy leader.
You will recall that Ms Funke Olakunrin, a daughter of Pa Fasoranti, was murdered on July 12, 2019, near Ore, Ondo State.
Ms Olakunrin was believed to be on her way to Lagos State when armed shooters opened fire and fatally shot her.
Meanwhile, men of the Ondo state police command later announced the arrest of four suspects, who reportedly participated in the murder of Ms Olakunrin.
The murder sparked nationwide outrage, especially amongst leaders in the south-west region.
