Blogger, Jackson Ude risks legal action over accusing Osinbajo of collecting N4bn from Magu.
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has written a petition to Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector-General of Police requesting the probe of a blogger and publisher of an online blog, Jackson Ude.
The petition titled, ‘Criminal Defamation of the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo(SAN), GCON by Jackson Ude’ was dated 8th July 2020.
This petition written by the Vice President’s lawyer, Bayo Osipitan said that Jackson Ude alleged that the embattled acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC), Ibrahim Magu told the presidential panel that he gave the Osinbajo N4bn.
This petition was accompanied with copies of the the blogger’s articles.
Osinanjo said Jackson was in the habit of posting defamatory articles against his person and highlighted those articles had the potential to harm his reputation .
The Vice President said that the Blogger likened him to alleged fraudster ‘Hushpuppi’ and ridiculed him by calling him ‘hush-bajo’
The petition stated,
’These vicious and malicious publications are meant to achieve one objective only, to present to his readership and others(Nigerians and Foreigners) that our client is a dishonest and disloyal public officer and consequently unfit for the position of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria he is occupying.
We are of the view that unless an action for criminal defamation is commenced against the sad Mr Jackson Ude, he will continue to use his platform to publish materials that are false and criminally defamatory of our client’s reputation’
Jackson Ude was unfazed by the legal threats and continued to tweet about Osinbajo and the alleged role in the EFCC.
Convinced that Vice President is guilty, he tweeted
‘I am not afraid of Osinbajo and his minions, if he indeed wants to go to court, he needs to resign first and sue me. He cannot be VP and be using the state’s resources to intimidate the judiciary. He cannot wave immunity that he didn’t confer on himself. Osinbajo should resign first’
He infact dared the president to sue him if he was innocent.
