Osinachi’s Death: Court Remands Husband in Kuje Prison

A High Court in Abuja has ordered that Mr Peter Nwachukwu, husband to the late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, be remanded in prison.

Justice N.K. Nwosu-Iheme, on Friday, remanded Peter Nwachukwu at the Kuje Correctional Facility pending the hearing and determination of the homicide-related suit instituted against him by the Attorney General of the Federation.

Mr Nwachukwu was arrested at about 5 pm on Sunday, April 10, 2022, in their residence at Lugbe, Abuja, in connection to the death of his wife, who died on April 8, 2022.

Mr Nwachukwu has pleaded not guilty to the 23 counts charge, bordering on domestic violence and homicide.

Justice Nwosu-Iheme said, “The business for today is for arraignment. Accelerated hearing is hereby ordered.”

“Defendant should be remanded in Kuje Correctional Facility pending the hearing and determination of this suit.”

The trial has since been adjourned to June 16 from noon and June 17 by 9 am.
