The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has cleared the air over speculations making the rounds on the plan to Honour Adamu Garba as Aare Atunluse Oodua during the forthcoming World Omoluabi Day Festival in Ile-Ife.
In a statement signed by Moses Olafare, the Director of media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, the Monarch said he is aware of the event but expected the organizers to have sought and gotten the Ooni’s approval regarding the Award segment of the events.

Olafare added that though the Monarch is not opposed to Adamu Garba or any other person to be considered for the Awards of Honour by the organizers of the event, he said doing so without seeking the Ooni’s consent remains unacceptable.
The Ooni’s spokesman further explained that the Omoluabi Day Festival had enjoyed the Monarch’s fatherly support, but the organizers did not get Ooni’s approval to Award Garba as Aare Atunluse.
