A few days to the governorship elections in Ondo State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has drummed support for the party’s candidate in Ondo as they also expressed confidence that Eyitayo Jegede will emerge winner of the poll.
Speaking on the forthcoming elections, Chairman of the Forum and Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, who spoke through the forum’s Director-General, C.I.D. Maduabum said that the governors under the platform of the PDP were united in ensuring that Jegede becomes the next governor in Ondo.
Tambuwal stated that Jegede’s experience, dynamism, and programs as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, (SAN) will return the State to glory days as he also condemned those suggesting that PDP governors were not supporting Jegede.
According to Tambuwal, the Forum speaks with one voice, and this naked attempt to sow division and discord within its ranks has failed miserably adding that those spreading the rumor about the Forum not backing Jegede are fifth columnists who were afraid of the popularity of the party’s candidate and triumph.
He added that the PDP Governors had a firm resolve and commitment to make sure that all hands are on deck to support and deliver the PDP candidate. It was gathered that the PDP governors would storm Akure on October 7 for the grand finale of the party’s governorship campaign.
The October 10 Ondo state election is majorly between the incumbent governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nigerian legal practitioner, Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP and the Deputy governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, who is contesting under the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP.
