Governor Godwin Obaseki has on Friday approved the recruitment of new professionals into Edo Civil service.
He described the approval as part of his government’s commitment to repositioning the Edo civil service for optimal performance.
Speaking shortly after receiving the 2019 Civil Service Commission Report at the Government House in Benin City, Obaseki reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to repositioning the civil service as he also assured that the welfare of workers in the state would be prioritized.

Also, the Governor vowed to undertake a comprehensive restructuring of the civil service within the next twelve months.
According to him, his administration would ensure that henceforth, promotion in the service will be based strictly on merit and performance.
On her part, the Chairman of the Commission, Princess Ekiuwa Inneh disclosed that nine percent of the state’s workforce will attain the age of 60 or 35 years of service within the next five years.
However, the Chairman acknowledged Obaseki’s ongoing recruitment drive.
