Contrary to reports that bandits attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train, the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC says the attacks were carried out by hoodlums.
Managing Director of the NRC, Fidet Okhiria while speaking on the attacks said the reports were untrue adding that there are always hoodlums who usually throw heavy stones at the moving train along Abuja-Kaduna route.
He added that there would have been bullets on the Abuja-Kaduna train KA4 playing the Asham and Kubwa if the attacks were indeed carried out by bandits.
According to him, the hoodlums came out to attack the train because police arrested one of the suspects.
The NRC Boss stated that the security agencies have been informed to prevent such future occurrences and intervene in the matter.
Meanwhile, Okhiria urged the public using the trains not to panic adding that the Minister of Transportation and NRC would ensure the safety of Nigerians on that route.
Corroborating the NRC manager, Paschal Nnorli, the Manager Abuja-Kaduna Train Service stated that the reported attacks were untrue noting that some hoodlums threw stones and broke the windscreen of the train.
