The Nigerian Medical Association, (NMA) has cried out, exposing those it believes are infecting its members the health workers with the Coronavirus that has killed well over one hundred and ninety-six thousand people globally.
`In a statement signed by the association’s President and Secretary, Dr Francis Faduyile and Olumuyiwa Odusote respectively claimed that court medical doctors have so far tested positive for the virus.
They, however, explained that there those forty excludes other health workers who have also contracted the virus, adding that three doctors and a nurse have unfortunately lost their lives to complications from Coronavirus.
The statement stressed that these infected health workers were not infected at the isolation centres, but by rich infected Nigerians who have been doing all they can to avoid going to the isolation centres.
” This is very disturbing and unsettling development comes against the unfolding scenario as reported in the media then some VIPs in the society are refusing to and be admitted at the isolation centres for treatment, rather prefer to stay at other non-accredited facilities.
” The association perceives that by continued refusal to adhere to instructions, some citizens have vowed to make healthcare workers very vulnerable to contracting the disease.”
The statement also went ahead to make open some of the information at its disposal.
” NMA wishes to reiterate that none of the infected healthcare workers of those that died contracted the disease at an Isolation and Treatment Centre, but in general public and private health facilities while treating patients many of whom refused to disclose important medical/travel information that would have increased the suspicion and facilitate early diagnosis of COVID-19 infection.”
