Nigeria is highly likely to reciprocate the gestures by the United Kingdom, UK, Saudi Arabia, Canada, plus several other international countries, by restricting flights of their citizens into the country.
However, while it may seem reactionary for the time being, there are talks already making the rounds that Nigerians are patiently awaiting the announcement from the Presidential Steering Committee, PSC, whether or not the ban on some international flights would take place.
Peradventure the ban takes place, the gesture would stand as Federal Government, FG way of protesting what was tagged an unjust restriction of our citizens to the aforementioned countries.
All these tensions were triggered by the emergence of the Omicron Variants of the COVID 19 Pandemic, as all foreign and local nations are attempting to be careful to avoid the widespread of the virus.
Nigeria Reduces Emirates Flights
Earlier, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, justified the reduction of Emirates Airlines’ Winter Schedule from 21 to one flight weekly.
Sirika said it was in prompt response to the United Arab Emirates, UAE denial of three weekly slots requested by Nigerian flag carrier, Air Peace airline.
