Following allegations that he falsified his age, the newly-elected president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Sunday Asefon, has opined that the rumour was sponsored to blackmail him.
Asefon, who denied the allegation stated that the rumour making the rounds that he is 48 years old is laughable.
Also, the NANS President said the allegation that he is a serving civil servant is baseless as he challenged his accusers to come forward with proof to back their claims.

He vowed to resign if anyone comes forward with proof that he is a Civil servant. Afeson stressed that he is a post-graduate student of Ekiti State University, with matric number SU/PGD/MN36.
Meanwhile, he decried the incessant strike actions by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU lecturers noting that industrial action embarked upon by lecturers have crippled academic activities in the country.
According to him, the federal government and the striking lecturers need to come to a round table to find a lasting solution to curtail incessant strike action.
