The Nigeria Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), through its Lagos State Command, has seized 5,371 kg of cannabis worth over N15 million.
Ralph Igwenagu, the state Commander of the NDLEA, said the seizure was made after officers raided a notorious syndicate in Ayobo, Lagos State.
Igwenagu noted that other members of the syndicate were on the run, and said the seizure was one of the biggest in five years.
He also added that they had been doing a lot to trace and track down the syndicate who have gained notoriety for bringing in drugs to Lagos from Osun and Ondo States.
47-year-old Achienu Promise apprehended by the command said he was co-opted into moving the drugs from Osun State to Lagos.
He said it was his first time engaging in the ferrying of cannabis.
Igwenagu, who estimated the value of the prohibited drugs to be worth over N15 million, said the “NDLEA will apprehend every criminal element who wants to use this period to perpetrate crimes”.
