National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, President, Chidi Ilogebe has called on the Federal Government to waive tuition fees for all tertiary Institution students across the country.
According to him, the waiving of school fees is meant to be a form of palliative for the students. Ilogebe while speaking with Newsmen in Enugu, stressed that it is time for the federal and state governments to think of making learning easier for students.
In his argument, governments at all levels have given palliatives and grants to help businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, but students were left of the equation.
“It is on record that students were not considered in any of these arrangements. I, therefore, call on government at all levels to waive this 2019/2020 session’s school fees as COVID-19 educational support to Nigerian students,’’
While also appealing to the government, ASUU and NASU to work out mutual understanding in resolving the ongoing strike action, the NANS President also pleaded that owners of student residential buildings across campuses give rebate for accommodation payment.
