Naira Marley’s Fame Regrettably Drains Among Fans

Azeez Fashola known as Naira Marley, a Nigerian singer and songwriter also known as the president of his fan base called ‘Marlians” seems not to be making headway among his fans anymore.

The Agege-born singer became popular after releasing the single “Issa goal” featuring Olamide of YBNL nation and lil kesh of YAGI Records but after the release of the song “Am I a yahoo boy” featuring Zlatan, his name was on the lips of everyone because it was alleged that he publicly declared support for internet fraud.

Overtime, the singer has been known to have a controversial career in the entertainment industry and these controversies range from his EFCC arrest alongside Zlatan and three others where he was slammed with an 11- count charge bordering on credit card fraud, car theft and Cybercrime and was detained for over a month.

This however led to the release of the song “Soapy”, after this he moved the his recent face off with the Lagos State Government where he was arraigned for attending a party at the home of Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele.

His fans, marlians have gained prominence with slogans like; “zero belt a thousand trousers, marlians no dey graduate, no manners, etc.” and to some spectators, his songs are inspiring a lot of youths to be immoral and he released a song to that note titled “bad influence”.

Although the lyrics of his songs are mostly vulgar, his fans seem to be more in tune with the beats of his songs than the lyrics.

A few days ago, Naira Marley released a new song titled “dido lobo” which translates to something vulgar (as usual), a lot of his fans were unimpressed as some of them expressed their dissatisfaction in their tweets. One wrote;

“Ï have not listened to it yet but I can guess it sounds like his last 4 songs, if he doesn’t change he will run out in 2 years…”

Another tweeted;
“The song is “sweet”but it’s still same vibe. You can sing Tingasa, Tesumole, pxta, soapy, etc with the beat”
Could it be that the singer isn’t doing enough to appease his fan base or does he need to find a new source of inspiration to wow his fans? Because it is seeming like he is losing his touch with his fans!
