The FCT Administration charged and found Naira Marley guilty of flouting COVID-19 protocol.
Nigerian artiste and social media sensation, Naira Marley (born Azeez Fashola) was arraigned in Abuja on the 7th of August 2020.
Recall that at the beginning of the lockdown, Marley and his team flouted the COVID-19 protocols of interstate travel and public gathering put in place by the Federal government to help reduce the spread of the virus. The concert was organised by Play Network and as a result, popular Abuja social facility, Jabi Lake Mall was shut down for two weeks.
The FCT Administration filed a four-count charge against the artist and after the counts were read to him, he pleaded guilty. Presiding magistrate Idayat Akanni handed Marley a N200,000 fine.
The day before this decision was made, Naira Marley and his manager were also given a fine of N100,000 for interstate travel during the lockdown in Lagos.The chartered plane that Naira Marley and his team flew was meant for a top government official to travel.
