The Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, has alerted Nigerians over what she described as the circulation of fake insulin tea.
Adeyeye, who raised the alarm, warned diabetic patients against buying or taking the tea because of its negative health implications.
The NAFDAC boss said the NAFDAC number on the product (NAFDAC Reg. No. 01-8662) is unreal, adding that the insulin tea poses a danger to the public’s health.
Meanwhile, Adeyeye urged Nigerians to contact the nearest NAFDAC office with any information concerning the use of the fake insulin tea through the toll-free NAFDAC PRASCOR 20543 from all networks.
She also advised those who had already bought and taken the product to report its adverse effects to the nearest NAFDAC office.
In another development, the Agency had announced that anyone who has received the vaccine and is experiencing any adverse reaction should report to NAFDAC via their Med Safety App.
NAFDAC noted that the reporting platform is available for Android and IOS devices, or anyone who intends to report to reach out to the centre where they received your vaccination.
