Mr. Macaroni, an online comedy skit maker, has been awarded for his commendable role during the EndSARS Protest, and was issued the “People Newsmaker for Social Justice Award, 2021.”
His real name, Debo Adedayo, was recognised for taking a great personal risk, Debo and remained undeterred after the brutal murder of anti-police brutality #EndSARS protesters in Lagos, Nigeria.
He advocated for victims’ accountability and was arrested for leading the #occupylekkitollgate protests in memory of state violence victims.
He was awarded for remaining undeterred in his pursuit of justice and accountability for the victims by PJPA, a subsidiary of Gatefield, which is a Sub-Saharan African public strategy and media group that influences positive change.
It would be noted that this is the company’s third year, and PJPA is a public service journalism initiative to recognise and reward journalists, citizen reporters, and social justice newsmakers on the continent.
According to the firm, this year’s nominees and winners have been selected by journalists, human rights defenders, and public opinion shapers across the continent.
