Associate yourself with greatness
Ever heard of the saying; “show me your friends and I will tell you who you are?” While that may not be completely true, there is at least some truthiness to it. The reason for this is that you find interests and similarities with those you spend majority of your time with. For instance, say you have the goal of getting back in good physical shape after a long time of neglect. You will discover that your goal will be quickly achieved if you begin to hang out with regular gym goers. On the other hand; if you stick with people who obsess about eating junk and never working out then you will find yourself in a pit.
Again, the same theory goes for business or any other aspect of your life. If you’re focused on becoming successful in business, it’s important to surround yourself with people who are looking to achieve the same thing. You’re able to discuss the struggle and gain insights on what they’ve been doing to find success. If you surround yourself with people who are constantly negative and spend more time talking about why the world is out to get them; you too will become a victim of the circumstances in which you impose on yourself. When it comes to life, there’s no point waiting around for people who don’t add value to your life. Always try to surround yourself with people who do great things or at least have the mindset to achieve great things.
You cannot have all the answers
Life becomes extremely hard when you try to learn or do everything. It is very important to find key areas to focus on and become and expert in those areas. The fact still remains that when you become a “jack of all trades” then you are on your way to become a “master of none”. This is why its so important to have a diversified network of professionals in your work life that you can leverage at all times. This is so that anytime you have questions that you don’t have answers to you know someone to ask. So if you have a dream and it is well-calculated you should move on to execution instead of waiting for all the answers because you will never have all the answers. Simple as that.
Take note of the things you can control
There are two important things in this life; things you can control and things you can’t control. Before you can actually make progress in anything at all, you must focus on the things that you can control. If you focus on the things you can’t control it will take a toll on you as you’re constantly setting unrealistic expectations. Make sure to set expectations based on facts and what you know. Some people get bent on trying to change things they have no control over and in the process they waste valuable time. And this is time that could have been used for moving ahead in other areas of their lives.
Finally, if you are chasing happiness, stop chasing and create your own happiness. More on this coming up!
