The Marlian fever seems not to be over yet as a University lecturer makes sure his students answer a question on the rave of the moment, Naira Marley. The controversial Nigerian musician, Afeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been in the news since coming to limelight. It is a great feat for the artist’s camp for his case to be used to set a question by a university lecturer.
According to an image shared by a Postgraduate student in the Department of Performing Arts, University of Ilorin, Nigeria, Naira Marley and Marlians is a question they needed to answer compulsorily in their degree examination. It is an enquiry on social media set by their professor lecturer and got people talking.
The examination with the course title DRA 813 had 5 questions. Three questions were to be answered while question 1 and 2 were compulsory. If you have to pass the three credits course, then you have to have an in-depth analysis of the artist Naira Marley.
The question on Naira Marley reads ‘’Write a play-let to support the inherent paradox of the postcolonial culture of Naira Marley and the Marlians’’.
Out of the 2hours 3o minutes given to write the exam, it is expected you come up with great lines to support your analysis on the ‘soapy’ crooner.
Naira Marley, despite being controversial is definitely making waves and pulling weight if he’s a case study for graduates. Can we say the lecturer is a Marlian or just caught by the Marlian fever? Whatever is the case, the students of the Department of the Performing Arts must solve this inquiry on Naira Marley to cross the hurdles before them.
