Following a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila have appealed to the Nigerian youth to end the #EndPoliceBrutality protests across the country.
According to the lawmakers, the government has heard and accepted their genuine demands and working to address all of them.
In a tweet by Bashir Ahmad, the Personal Assistant on New Media to President Buhari, Lawan and Gbajabiamila said the time has come for the protests to stop since the issues raised by the protesters have been accepted by the government.
The Senate President, Lawan said the government needs to have time to implement the demands of the protesters. Lawan added that the Nigerian economy will be affected if the protests continue adding that the protests have yielded some results referring to the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
Lawan said the highlight of the protests has been addressed when President Buhari ordered the Inspector-General of Police to dissolve SARS adding that other demands of the protesters would be looked into.
However, he noted that other Nigerians have the right to go about their daily businesses, hence, the need for #EndSARS protesters to put an end to their protests across the country to avoid a degeneration of the protests
