The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has reacted to the allegations that the federal government paid N800 million ransom to bandits to secure the release of the abducted students of Government Science College, Kagara.
The Minister said the Nigerian government had no plan to pay any ransom to bandits, adding that they would employ kinetic and non-kinetic measures to secure their release.
According to him, bandits worldwide work with the psychology of people and deliberately targets women and children to attract a lot of global outcries.
Mohammed opined that the government had put in place various strategies to fight insurgency, banditry and kidnapping.
Ransom To Bandits
In the meantime, the Niger State Government had denied allegations that the federal government paid N800m to secure the Kagara school students’ release.
In a telephone interview with TVC, the Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Matane, described the allegation as mere Social Media speculation.
Matane added that the state government is yet to reach a truce with Bandits.
