The Lagos state commissioner for health, professor Akin Abayomi has on Tuesday, announced that there were no new cases recorded as of 20th April 2020, but the state had recorded two new deaths of patients from the state.
The commissioner made this known in a tweet he released in the morning hours of Tuesday. Lagos recording for the first time 0 cases, just a day after they had increased their highest figures of 70 cases. He also said the two new deaths were of a male and a female, with the male a 45-year-old having a travel history and the female deceased a 36-year-old with no travel history or contact with a known coronavirus case, but she had underlying health conditions.
He said, “No new case of #COVID19 was confirmed in Lagos on 20th April 2020. However, #COVID19 related deaths were recorded in Lagos. One of the deceased was a 45 years old Nigerian male who returned from India in January 2020. The second death involved a 36-year-old Nigerian female with severe underlying health condition. She had no history of travel or contact with any #COVID19 confirmed case. Total number of #COVID19 related deaths in Lagos now stands at 16.”
The commissioner also urged the residents of the state to remain vigilant and report any concern they would have about a possible coronavirus patient in the communities.
