Nollywood actor/producer, Kunle Afolayan has blasted a fan after he found out that he downloaded and watched the pirated copy of his new movie, ‘Citation’.
Kunle Afolayan called out the overzealous fan after he had critiqued the movie for non subtitle of the parts in French language.
The Twitter user@iam_Muideen was found out to have seen the pirated copy because the film is subtitled on Netflix platform which is the source of the newly released film.
He wrote, “@kunleafolayan Citation is a great film no doubt, but non subtitle of French part is a great disservice to the movie.“
Kunle Afolayan was having none of the twitter user’s rant as he came hard on him. He tweeted, “You are a very stupid idiot. That’s what you get if you keep downloading films from unauthorized streaming platforms”.
The unusual outburst by the seasoned film director comes in the wake of reports that pirated copies of the film is flying around the internet. The movie director has also spoken severally concerning piracy as the main threat to their work (filmmakers).
Citation follows the story of Moremi Oluwa (Temi Otedola), a 21-year-old postgraduate student who seeks justice after a sexual harassment experience. The movie was released on Netflix on the 6th of November, 2020.
