A political group loyal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a stern warning to former President Goodluck Jonathan, cautioning him against making a return to the presidential race in 2027.
Operating under the banner of the Progressive Network for Tinubu in Ondo State, the group declared that any attempt by Jonathan to contest the next presidential election would “end in embarrassment.”
Speaking on Tuesday, the group’s members maintained that President Tinubu currently faces no serious opposition ahead of the 2027 polls, insisting that his leadership remains firmly supported across the country.
According to the group, the president’s ongoing reforms and political influence have positioned him as the dominant force in Nigeria’s political landscape, leaving little room for what they described as a “retrogressive comeback.”
Their statement adds to the growing political discussions surrounding the 2027 general elections, as speculations continue about potential contenders who may challenge the incumbent.
The warning to Jonathan underscores the brewing political tension ahead of what could become another fiercely contested electoral season in Nigeria’s democracy.
