Internet users have thrown jabs at Nigerian Billionaire Ned Nwoko. Reacting to a statement credited to Nwoko, Reginal Daniel’s husband, many Nigerians described his stance on the indefinite suspension of Twitter as unfortunate.
The Billionaire Businessman had announced that he wholeheartedly support President Muhammadu Buhari’s ban on Twitter. He stated this while speaking at a June 12 lecture organised by the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abuja Council.
According to him, there should be a measure of control and regulation for social media in any country they are operating. He further stressed that the social media platforms must pay taxes to governments and provide employment for some Nigerians for the over 100 million population that subscribed to their services.
Reacting to Nwoko’s stance on the ban of Twitter, many Instagram users noted that he has no genuine reason to support such action.
Ned Nwoko
@b3rants said, “Because they don’t support you stealing people’s land and marrying your daughters. See, carry your face like akamu out of here.”
Ned Nwoko’s statement is coming a few days after many Nigerians tongue-lash famous Nollywood actor Yemi Solade over his comment regarding the suspension of Twitter’s operation in Nigeria.
In a viral video, the Nollywood actor noted that Twitter went too far by insulting President Muhammadu Buhari and, by extension, Nigerians at large by deleting the President’s Tweet.
EveryEvery.ng reported that Solade stressed that the action taken by Twitter trampled on the fundamental human rights of Nigerians, adding that it was not the first time the microblogging platform will do such a thing. The actor said there is a need to curb the white supremacist tendency.
