James Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo, former Governor of Anambra State (1979-1983) in the Nigerian second Republic and Senator for Enugu East (1999-2003) says that Nigeria will not know peace until an Igbo becomes president.
Speaking at the celebration of his 79th birthday celebration held at Base Events Center independence layout Enugu, Sen. Ifeanyi Nwobodo made the statement adding that an Igbo president will make a difference.
Ifeanyi Nwobodo called on Ndigbo to unite and support their own. He reminded the judiciary to discharge their duties with justice stating that only the judiciary can prevent Nigeria from collapsing.
The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnai Nwodo while speaking at the event commended the Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for uniting the people of Enugu State. He said Ugwuanyi does not discriminate among political parties and treats everyone equally.
“Ugwuanyi has no boundary. We have never had such love that exists in Enugu State today,” he said.
According to him, Ugwuanyi distributes resources across the state equally irrespective of where the opposing party members come from. He urges the future governors not to return Enugu State to a place of acrimony and animosity among parties.
“The next governor should not remind us of old days of acrimony or animosity,” he said.
