The House of Representatives has announced plans to summon an Abuja cab driver who was reportedly assaulted by its member, Alex Ikwechegh. This information was shared by Francis Waive, Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, during an appearance on a TVC program.
Waive emphasized the House’s commitment to fairness and transparency, stating, “In every case where such incidents occur, the House provides an opportunity for all parties involved to be heard. In this particular case, the driver will be invited by the ethics and privileges committee to present his side of the story, and the honourable member will also have the chance to share his perspective.”
He further mentioned that anyone else involved in the incident, including those who may have made relevant phone calls, would also be invited to participate. Waive assured the public that these proceedings would be conducted openly, with both public hearings and investigative sessions available for scrutiny.
