A House of Assembly member in Cross River State, Godwin Akwaji has died of suspected coronavirus complications.
The House of Assembly Peoples Democratic Party member in Cross River State, and is the lawmaker representing Obudu Constituency in the state house.
The lawmaker Godwin Akwaji is said to have died at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital isolation centre on Thursday after showing signs that relate to coronavirus. He was reported to be diabetic, had fever, cough, breathlessness and also exhibited fatigue.
He had been treated for pneumonia and malaria before he died, with no improvement. It was also reported that the people who visited him while he was sick are now showing signs of being infected with coronavirus also.
NCDC is yet to officially announce any confirmed case of coronavirus from the South-South state as of today and is the only case without a recorded case.
