Three people, including a mother and child, have been killed by some suspected Fulani herdsmen, who invaded Igbooro, Oja-Odan in the Yewa-North Local Government area of Ogun State.
According to Eyewitnesses, the herdsmen shot indiscriminately, injured two villagers and set ablaze three houses, storehouses in the community close to Eggua in Oja-Odan.
The eyewitnesses confirmed that the two persons who sustained injury were in critical conditions while many people, including children, sustained varying injuries.
Confirming the incident, Baale of Igbooro, Abidemi Akorede, said some Fulani herdsmen invaded the village on Friday night.
Meanwhile, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun state Police Public Relations Officer, said the command had drafted a policeman team to the area.
Barely 24 hours before the recent attack, five people were killed in Owode Ketu, Ogun State.
Herdsmen Invade Ogun
In the meantime, the Ogun state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved Diaspora’s Office in the State.
The Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Barrister Femi Ogunbanwo said the office would improve and sustain strong socio-cultural and economic relations with the Diaspora.
He added that it would promote policy consistency and coherence by establishing strategies that encourage collaboration and synergies among existing Diaspora strides.
