Some gunmen have reportedly attacked the convoy of an outspoken Nigerian Governor in the early hours of Saturday, March 20, 2021.
Everyevery.ng gathered that the convoy of the Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom, got attacked at Tyo Mu community, along Makurdi/Gboko road in Makurdi Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Ortom was on his way to Makurdi when the gunmen opened fire on his convoy. Meanwhile, the gunmen were repelled by his security men.
Meanwhile, Ortom has confirmed the attack on him by suspected militia herdsmen. The Governor said the militia herders, dressed in black ambushed him and his security men.
Nigerian Governor
According to Ortom, it took the swift response of his security aides to repel the attack while running for a long distance to escape unhurt.
The Governor opined that the attack came a few days after Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore’s leadership held a meeting and singled him out as a thorn in their flesh.
However, he stated that his life is in the hands of God and no Fulani militia has the power to take it.
He further revealed plan to send a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari and security chiefs against Miyetti Allah.
