The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has re-emphasized the State Government’s position on ransom for bandits.
Governor El-Rufai said his government would never negotiate with any group of bandits or pay a penny for ransom.
The Governor, who said this while interacting with the Air Staff’s Chief, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao, at the Government House in Kaduna, noted that his administration would do everything possible to rescue the 39 pupils abducted in the state.
According to El-Rufai, Stakeholders in the state had thrown their weight behind the decision not to pay ransom to bandits.
He said one of the stakeholders suggested that the Kaduna state government should make the payment of a ransom a criminal offence.
Meanwhile, El-Rufai said his administration was implementing a ranching project to accommodate about 1,500 herdsmen at Damau Grazing Reserve in Kubau local government.
He opined that the ranching project would enable the herders to raise their cattles. The Governor commended security agencies for keeping Kaduna residents safe as he called for decentralizing the police force.
