Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has ordered the shutdown of all government offices. This he said is to check the spread of coronavirus. amongst government officials. Earlier on Thursday morning, news went round that a member of the state Executive Council has tested positive for coronavirus in Ebonyi State.
This instruction was contained in a public statement issued by Uchenna Orji, Commissioner for Information in Ebonyi State. He confirmed that the infected persons are now in stable conditions. However, the closure of government offices in the state is to prevent further spread of the virus. Civil Servants were advised to continue working from home and ensure their phone lines are open always.

Also in the statement, there is a mandatory order for all government offices to be decontaminated including old and new complexes. All government officials that work in the Ministry of Finance and the budget office are being advised to get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
With all of the steps taken to prevent further spread of the virus, the governor instructed that people should halt plans of returning to the state for the time being. He also advised the residents of the state to take the NCDC protocols seriously as that is one way to stay safe from the virus.
Ebonyi State currently has 63 cases of COVID-19.
