Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has countered some reports making the round regarding the zoning formula of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and has also cleared the air on what is expected of the party primaries.
Ortom who doubles as the Presidential Zoning Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, has said that the committee didn’t throw the presidential ticket open as presented by some media platforms.
The BenueState Governor who spoke on a live television interview was on Wednesday, said that as the chairman of the aforementioned committee, they didn’t throw the presidential ticket open.
He further pointed out that the party only decided to revert the National Executive Committee, NEC of the party, and stressed that it was wrong for people out there to insinuate that they threw open the presidential ticket.
“We have to revert to NEC. It is wrong for the media to come up with a position, and the media were not members of the committee. During our discussion, the media were not there. After the meeting, I came out to brief the media, so it was surprising to see the headlines on newspapers, televisions and radios. We have to correct that because it is wrong.” He reiterated.
