The electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has released the final list of Ondo governorship candidates ahead of the October 10 elections in Ondo state.
The electoral body disclosed this in a statement made available by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye.
According to Okoye, the list was published at INEC’s state and local government offices in Ondo State.
Okoye added that the list was also available on the commission’s website and social media platforms.
List Of Ondo Governorship Candidates
However, he said only four political parties substituted their earlier nominated candidates as of 6 pm on August 18, which was the deadline for the withdrawal and substitution of candidates.
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, Action Democratic Party, ADP, and the Peoples Democratic Party withdrew and substituted their deputy governorship candidates.
Meanwhile, the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP substituted both its governorship and deputy governorship candidates.
It was gathered that INEC deliberated on the conduct of the Ondo governorship election during its weekly regular meeting on Thursday.
You will recall that the commission had on July 31 published the provisional list of candidates for the Ondo governorship election comprising 17 political parties.
