Four Italian Serie A Players in Self-isolation ahead of Serie A Resumption
Four more players have tested positive to coronavirus in Italian Serie A, according to the last report of the tested conducted on the players ahead of the resumption of their league. Recently, Cagliari said 28-year-old Croatia midfielder Filip Bradaric, Italian 31-year-old defender Luca Ceppitelli, and Italian 24-year-old striker Alberto Cerri, had all tested positive to coronavirus.
A further two Cagliari players are also self-isolating. Roma’s Italian goalkeeper Antonio Mirante, 37, also confirmed on social media that he had tested positive for the virus as well. It came after Cagliari’s 23-year-old Bulgaria international winger Kiril Despodov, tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.
Italian Serie A side Cagliari was due to return to training on Thursday but a training camp has now been postponed due to the coronavirus cases. they said in a club statement that: “The three players are in home isolation.” “In agreement with the health authorities, based on the protocols in force and as a precaution, quarantine with active surveillance has been ordered for two other players of the first team who have been in close contact with the positives.”
Meanwhile, Mirante said he had “no symptoms” and was feeling “fine”. He added: “I’m isolated, I hope to recover soon and start the preparation with my team-mates as soon as possible.” The 2020-21 Serie A season is set to begin on 19 September as the other English Premier has already released their own fixtures.
